Argentina View of Cerro Torre, Laguna Torre
Cerro Torre is a beautiful peak and this view over the lake is once of the best of the mountain, if you are lucky you will get some reflections and alpenglow.
Photography Tips
Sunrise is best for this spot with the possibility of alpenglow hitting the peaks. I camped nearby for two nights, and this was the only time Cerro Torre revealed itself. For great photos at Laguna Torre, aim to capture the golden hour light just after sunrise or before sunset, which enhances the landscape’s textures and colors. A polarizing filter will reduce glare on the water and make the sky pop. Focus on reflections in the lake for symmetrical compositions, and embrace the dynamic weather conditions that add atmosphere to your shots. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the vastness, and bring a tripod for stability in low-light situations. Frame your shots using surrounding elements to add depth, and don’t forget extra batteries and memory cards. Finally, be patient for the perfect moment, as the weather often hides Cerro Torre, but when it clears, it offers stunning views.
Travel Information
This spot is a decent hike from El Chalten (maybe 3 hours from memory) and Cerro Torre is often covered in clouds. The best thing to do is to camp nearby at De Agostini campsite (camping in this area is restricted to designated areas) to shorten the walk and get there for sunrise.
