Surfers Paradise is a small part of a very long beach that is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on one side and the lineal development of towns and high-rise apartments known as the Gold Coast running from Tweed Heads in the south to South Stradbroke Island in the north.

The Gold Coast was originally known as the South Coast (because it was south of Brisbane). However, inflated prices for real estate and other goods and services led to the nickname of "Gold Coast" from 1950.

The region is the iconic location for all year round beachside activities.

Photography Tips

Morning through to mid-afternoon is the best time of day. Also the blue hour.

Travel Information

There is no airport at this location. I flew into Gold Coast Airport, half the runway is in Queensland and half in New South Wales, near Tweed Heads. A taxi from there to Surfers cost about $60. Once in Surfers many areas can be reached by walking but there is a tram and bus service.
