Australia 12 Apostles, Great Ocean Road, Victoria

Located within Port Campbell National Park, these limestone stacks are inevitably succumbing to the ceaseless motion of the ocean. At last count there were 9 remaining Apostles.

Photography Tips

Sunset during the winter months is the best time to shoot the 12 Apostles as the sun sets right behind them. In summer the sun sets to the south, well to the left of the coastline. Dawn on a clear morning also highlights the pastel hues in the sky.

Inclement weather and stormy seas also offer the chance to shoot dramatic seascapes as long as you can handle the accompanying howling winds.

Travel Information

Head out of Melbourne through Geelong and onto the Great Ocean Road. Allow at least 4 hours to get there as you willl be frequently stopping to grab other shots along the way.

A shorter route is to travel along the Princes Highway and turn left at Colac or Camperdown and head for the hamlet of Port Campbell.
