Woomera is a town in central South Australia, the site of a vast military testing ground used in the 1950s for nuclear tests and since the 1960s for tracking space satellites. Here there are numerous displays of rockets and planes. The name Woomera is an Aboriginal stick used to throw a spear more forcibly.

Photography Tips

Usually, there is plenty of light. Take time to explore the museum area as well as the town which is largely in moth-balls.
