Australia Lake Bonney Sunset
A weir was constructed to maintain constant water levels in the lake. River Red Gum trees can withstand occasional flooding but not permanent inundation, so the trees died, and only their "skeletons" remain. Many locations along the shore of Lake Boney afford photos like this. For sunsets, you need to be on the eastern shore.
Photography Tips
Sunset or sunrise is the preferred time for color photos. During the day, when the light is harsh and colors are muted, it would be best to process as black and white. This image is 3 s, f/9.5, ISO 100, 22 mm. Use a tripod and long exposure if you want to flatten the water.
Travel Information
