Fort Scratchley, a former coastal defense installation built in 1882 to protect Newcastle from potential Russian attacks, is now a museum located in Newcastle East, New South Wales, Australia. This shot captures Fort Scratchley on Nobby's Beach, with beach changing sheds in the right-hand corner, and features the Hunter River in the background, marking the main entrance to Newcastle Harbour, one of Australia's key mining ports, with the city of Newcastle visible in the distance.
