Australia The Pumphouse, Lake St Clair, Tasmania
The Pumphouse a converted 1940 hydroelectric pump station at the end of a pier on Lake St. ClairLake St Clair National Park. This has been turned into a hotel
Photography Tips
To give an idea of the length of the pier I shot this as a stitched pano on a tripod.
Travel Information
The Pumphouse is located about 2.5 hours nothwest of Hobart. Great spot Except the company that has the lease on the pumphouse as a hotel do not allow you to walk on the pier or even get close and there is a gate to stop you driving in about 500 metres from the pier. You can walk along the foreshore and get quite close but when you are about 100 to 200 metres from the pier there are signs saying past this point is for Guests only. Definitely worth a stop and a photograph but disappoing unless you stay there that you can not get on the pier or jetty.
