The occasional flood raises water levels to the lake shore and provides hardy trees with enough water to maintain life until the next flood. A short distance away desert shrubs grow on the sand dunes. The late afternoon sun casts shadows of the trees onto the lake shore.

Photography Tips

People have differing opinions about the best height to fly and lens selection. This was taken at 600 feet. Flying in the golden hour is best but low light can present challenges with camera settings. A high shutter speed is needed to prevent motion blur. When shooting straight down depth of field is not a problem so a small f-stop can be used. Settings for this image were: 1/350 sec, f9.5, ISO 400, 200mm FL.

Make your base in William Creek. The airfield there is just 15 minutes flying time from the lake shore.
