Australia Point Lonsdale, Victoria
The seaside town of Point Lonsdale lies at the entrance to Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay. This stretch of water is one of the most dangerous in the country and is colloquially known as "The Rip". When a big sea is running waves have been seen breaking over the Point Lonsdale jetty - scary!
Ships frequently pass by Point Lonsdale and surfers can be viewed along the back beach.

Photography Tips
Plenty of opportunity to photograph ships and fishing boats, as well as the pilot boat that regularly traverses the Rip to assist incoming and outgoing ships.
The lighthouse and the jetty are great subjects and are best photographed at sunrise or sunset.
