Austria Umbalfälle

This spot is about waterfalls and cascades. Along the trail, there are several Viewpoints which tower over the waterfalls.

use a tripod to take longexposures. If you shoot during the day, use nd-filters. Go high with your camera to avoid having the viewpoint construction in your frame. Best to shoot at sunset, espacially when it was raining, the sky cleared up and the sun comes out.

Drive into the "Virgental" via Matrei in Osttirol. Follow the road to the end of the valley till you reach a small village called "Ströden". In "Ströden" you have the posibility to park your car and start your hike. Directly at the parking lot, the trail called "NATUR KRAFT WEG UMBALFÄLLE" starts. Follow this path, at the beginning it's a dirt road, to Pebell- und Islitzeralm (approx. 30 min.). From there on an alpine trail follows the waterfalls on the left side. Along this trail there are several viewpoints where you get a great view directly over the waterfalls. You reach this spot about 30 min. hiking the trail. If you want to hike further, you can set the "Clarahütte" to your destination. Just follow the trail for another approx. 1 1/2- 2 hours.
