Austria Traualpsee
The Traualpsee is a mountain lake that can be reached by hiking only from the Vilsalpsee or other directions. It is an artificial lake with beautiful clear blue-greenish water. On the meadows around the lake lots of cows, pigs, chicken and even llamas are having the good life! The trip to this lake is not long (3km), but exhausting, because you have to climb roughly 500 meters of altitude. The spot is located on the way upwards to the Landsberger Cabin.
Photography Tips
Wide angle lenses, but also tele lenses for the llamas are helpful. Pack lightly. It might be a very good spot in the early morning or evening!
Travel Information
Pack lightly due to the needed hike. You need good hiking boots and hiking poles are also a great help. The way is not long but very steep and you always walk on rocks. Count in at least 2 hours from the parking lot at the Vilsalpsee. By the way, the parking lot at the Vilsalpsee is only accessible before 10am and after 5pm. Otherwise you have to park in the village 4km away.
There is a nice little cabin at the beginning of the lake that offers drinks and meals.
