Austria Prinzensee Hochkönig
Prinzensee is a serene, small mountain lake located on the Natrun, near the village of Maria Alm in Austria. Nestled amid lush alpine meadows and surrounded by scenic hiking trails, it offers visitors a tranquil spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. The lake is a popular stop for hikers exploring the Natrun mountain, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding peaks and forests. Prinzensee is incredibly charming during the summer, providing a peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of the Hochkönig massif in the distance. It's a perfect place to unwind and experience the region's natural beauty.
Photography Tips
Make sure to bring a wide-angle lens since the mountain ridge reflection in the lake is massive, and it will be hard to capture otherwise. A polarization filter might be helpful regarding reflections in the water.
Travel Information
Take the Natrunbahn (You can use it for free if you stay at a partnering Hotel in the region that offers the Hochkönig card) to the top. The ride provides some exceptional views. From the mountain railway station, it is a short walk. You can decide to walk through the forest or take the mountain road (in case you want to bring a stroller). You can enjoy the stunning 360-degree view when you arrive at the lake.
