Belgium Hof Ter Laken Castle
The history of the Hof Ter Laken dates back to the 12th century, when a moated castle was built near the Grote Nete.
In the 17th century, the domain and castle passed into the hands of the della Faille family. This noble family played an important role in the development and history of Booischot. In 1836, when Booischot became an independent municipality, Alfons della Faille de Leverghem was the first mayor of this municipality.
In 1871-1874, the Hof Ter Laken, commissioned by Alfons della Faille, was rebuilt and given its present appearance in neo-Flemish Renaissance style.
In July 2018, the municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg and Kempisch Landschap took over the domain. The estate was transformed into a walking park and the castle will be given a new function in the years to come.
