The present castle was built in 1746 by Jan Walckiers on the site of a 15th century moated castle. It was built on pieces of tree or beams. With the exception of a few alterations and restorations, the castle still stands today and on the same trees.
In 1841, it passed to the Montens family who completely renovated and restored it. An airy garden with ponds and moat was created around the same time.
The last descendant of the Montens family donated the castle to the Sisters oblates in 1944.
From 1945, the nuns used the castle as a holiday centre for orphans.
By 1964, the castle had fallen into disrepair and was sold by the convent to an agricultural family who had restoration work carried out.
