Baron Theodoor de Viron had the castle built in 1862, together with the demolition of the remaining part of an old castle.
The architect integrated a calendar into the construction of the building: 1 main entrance (year), 7 staircases (days in a week), 52 doors (weeks), 12 towers (months), and 365 windows (days in a year).

The de Viron family left the castle in 1912.
During the First World War, it was occupied by the Germans.

In 1923, Frantz de Viron sold the castle to the municipality. His brother, Robert, was then mayor of Dilbeek. From then on, the castle acquired the function of town hall.

The building was listed as a monument in 1990.
