Belgium Boezinge Castle
Boezinge has had a castle since the 9th century. The first castle, destroyed in 1566 during the Iconoclasm by the Beggars, was rebuilt on a walled mound in 1580.
In 1700 this castle burned down and was replaced by a classicistic castle in 1780.
During the First World War, in 1915, the residents moved out of the castle. The English forces then used it as their headquarters. At the end of the war, the 18th-century castle was completely destroyed. The returned owners went to live in a small barrack, while in 1924 they rebuilt the castle according to the pre-war plans.
In 1955, the castle was extended.
Boezinge castle has been in the possession of the noble family de Thibault de Boesinghe since 1718.
