Belgium Boeckenberg Castle
The core of Boeckenberg Castle dates back to the first half of the 16th century. Between 1751 and 1755, the castle was rebuilt in rococo style.
In 1798 it was bought by J.W. Smets, banker and merchant on China and Japan.
Over the centuries, the castle has had several owners, who redecorate or renovate it according to their tastes. The OCMW became the owner in 1956 and turned it into a centre for special youth care.
In 2018, the castle was sold back.
Since 2019, Boeckenberg castle got its residential function back.
The castle was protected as a monument in 1974.
