Belgium Staircase, Atomium Brussels
The Atomium's staircase weaves gracefully between its interconnected spheres, inviting visitors on a journey through its futuristic interior. Designed to echo the form of an iron crystal, it enhances the building’s innovative spirit with its elegant curves and ambient lighting. As you ascend, each step reveals new perspectives of the architectural marvel and offers a glimpse of Brussels from a unique vantage point, embodying the bold optimism of the 1958 World Expo.
Photography Tips
Often compared to an intergalactic spaceship worthy of the science-fiction film 2001 a Space Odyssey or a submarine décor;
inside, the Atomium provides a surreal walk through astounding spaces and volumes that are alone, worth a visit, such as the stainless steel cupolas (18m in diameter) supported by an impressive metal frame, or the tubes that house escalators and animations (sound & light).
This unique interior in the world is the result of the collaboration between the brothers André and Jean Polak and the engineer André Waterkeyn.
So you can take an image of one of these cool staircases.
You have to pay the entry to visit the interior.
