Belgium Sint Michielschurch
The baroque Sint Michielschurch was built in 1650 by the Jesuits as a church for the surrounding monastery complex. When Pope Clement XIV abolished the Jesuit order in 1773, the monastery in Leuven was also closed and confiscated by the state. The Sint Michaels parish therefore moved from the Tiensestraat, the church was given the patronage of St Michael the Archangel and became a parish church
