Bonaire Salt Pier and Piles

These shots were taken just south of the salt piers by the side of the road. You cannot miss this as you drive south down the island. Other than tourism this is the biggest industry on the island. The two shots are from the same place, just turning 90 degrees between them. The pink water is from the high concentration of salt in the brine. The salt pile are waiting to be loaded onto ships via the pier and a conveyor belt.

Polarizing filter is a must. Watch out for traffic as this is a busy section of the road.

A car is the best way of getting here. Parking is anywhere off the side of the road. The water and ponds on the inland side are all private property so do not wander into that area.
