Bosnia and Herzegovina Stari Most from Pasha Mosque, Mostar

One of the most beautiful places to enjoy the view over the old town of Mostar is this one, located just behind the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque. The famous bridge called Stari Most in the centre is very easy to photograph from this perspective.

Photography Tips

It seems to be easier to be here during sunset because this place is kind of closed during the early morning. After all, it's a private place you can enter after you pay to visit the mosque. I asked the owner if I could enter this place very early in the morning, which seemed to be fine for him, but I would not recommend doing it without asking the day before.

If you take a long exposure of this spot I would also recommend you take a separate photo of the green moving parts, because they will get blurred if you try to get everything within a single exposure. But that depends on what's important for you.

Travel Information

This place is pretty easy to find. Just keep in mind that the entrance to the view costs 6 KM/person, which is around 3 Euros. This ensures though, that you won't have too many people over there and you should be able to photograph this view without any turmoil.

You are welcome dear Adelheid! Great shot and I hope you had a great time over there. If you are still around, I can definitely recommend you Kravica waterfall, which is not that far away from Mostar.

I did go to Kravica waterfall, but in mid October there wasn't very much water. There are some other great spots in Bosnia & Hercegovina that I will be adding though.

Good point though, would be great if you could add your photo to Kravica anyway if you still like it, so that others get a feeling about the "water issue" ;-) Looking forward for your other spots!! P.S. In my opinion your photos would look so much better without the white border, which is drawing so much attention from the photo.

I am adding my photo of Kravica! Hmmmm so you don't like the white border, even though it is only 3 pixels thick. O.K. if I post new photos I will post them without the border, but some of my photos that have already been posted on Flickr have that border, so I won't take it out. I appreciate your opinion and your feedback :-)

No worries, if you like it then you definitely should keep it. I am just saying that white as a color or light colors in photos usually grab the attention of the viewer and usually you want the viewer to see the main subject of your image first instead of the very bright border. But that's just my opinion about that. Thank you for being so open-minded :)

Hey Ravn, nice to hear from you again! This trip is really beautiful, but I didn't know that so many are doing this, but I could definitely understand it. Have you done this one too?
