Bulgaria 7 Rila Lakes
The 7 Rila Lakes are a stunning hiking destination in the Rila National Park. Due to its easy accessibility, it can get crowded in peak season. Shoulder seasons are best when the hut is still open but fewer people making their way up to the mountains. With a drone, there are several options to take stunning photos. Sunrise is best since the lakes are perfectly placed in the foreground, creating a leading line into the valley.
Photography Tips
Please check out the actual drone regulations. It is recommended to ask at the Rila Lakes Chalet or the National Park authorities if drone flights are okay. In 2023, there were no problems when asking the official park rangers/hut owners.
Travel Information
Due to the good infrastructure of a cable car, connecting the by-car accessible bottom of the mountain range with the Rila Lakes Chalet, the lakes are fairly easily reachable. The cable car takes around 35 minutes to get you up. The hike from the hut covers around 150m in height until you get to the old mountain hut at the first lake.
