Bulgaria Mountain Vihren Summit

Mount Vihren (2.914m) is the second highest peak of Bulgaria, the third highest peak in the Balkan Peninsula. It is situated in the heart of the Pirin Nationalpark. From the parking lot at the Vihren Mountain Hut (1.920m), the trail takes around 3h and covers around 1.000m elevation gain. The trail is well marked.

Attention: It's recommended to go up the southwestern slopes which are still quite steep. The northern slopes are only for very advanced mountaineers, especially in snowy and windy conditions. Please take care.

Always check the local and actual drone regulations when flying. Please be advised that this summit can get extremely windy and you want to keep control of your drone. Please be careful when flying and always check your battery level because it can be hard to fly back to the summit when a bit away. Furthermore, you want to keep your drone in sport mode to have the maximum power (if windy).

Furthermore, choose a kind of golden ratio when placing an adventurous person into the frame so it can a) breathe and b) show the landscape the person is facing to.

Please check the weather conditions for Mount Vihren before attempting the hike to the summit. Vihren is well known for its harsh weather, especially the winds can be brutal due to the exposed pyramid likely peak. In snowy conditions it's recommended to only hike up when being experienced with snowy ground on steep slopes. The hike takes you pretty much straight up with barely any flat parts. Plan enough time for breaks and water.
