Cambodia Bayon - Faces of the Bayon
The iconic faces of the Bayon temple at Angkor Thom, Cambodia. This whole area has a plethora of photogenic viewpoints, this is a guide just to capture the faces close up. First, you will need to reach the centre of the temple and ascend the stairs to the top. Here you can walk around and get close to the faces. To capture the iconic 'faces kissing' photos, you will need to step up to the very central platform and shoot slightly downwards. It's best to shoot towards the west faces during the early morning to get a classic golden look.
Photography Tips
This temple is one of the most visited in the region. Therefore to avoid the tour buses it is best to get here shortly after sunrise or very late afternoon. Mid-morning through mid-afternoon it is very busy and very hot- not a good combination.
Travel Information
Your tuk-tuk driver will usually park to the east of the temple. It is a short walk from here.
