Canada Lakeside view towards Canoe Cabin at Lake Louise, Banff

Lake Louise in Banff Nationalpark is without any doubt a beautiful place, but it's the experience you will get when visiting this place during the day or the night couldn't be more different. Especially the area near the parking isn't fun for any photographer during the day because of the huge masses of tourists. So keep that in mind and think about coming here during times or weather conditions that are not so comfortable.
This spot is therefore only nice during these times, but especially at night when the sky is clear because you can use the lake as a mirror and photograph the canoe cabin in front of the forest and the mountain in the background.

If you are here during the night, I would recommend you use a headlamp, because it makes it so much easier to see where to place the tripod etc. In general, this place is awesome for astrophotography, so you might want to dive a little bit deeper into this topic before shooting this location and maybe even check out when you might see the milky-way.
I used 22mm on a full-frame camera to capture this scene, so you might be fine with any type of lens around that range.

There is a parking spot nearby at Lake Louise, which can be easily used during the night. During the day, you might even use the overflow parking, which is located on Trans-Canada Highway. There are free shuttle buses though, that will drive you to Lake Louise. I wouldn't recommend trying to park at the lake during the day, because there is just too much traffic and tourism.
