Canada Emerald Lake
Emerald Lake is absolutely stunning. Bald eagles, moose, and ospreys are a common site in the area. The rustic little cafe seen in the photo is very photogenic, albeit quite expensive for the coffee, water, sodas and snacks sold inside. Views of the lake and surrounding mountains are spectacular.
Photography Tips
Get there early. This is a popular spot. We arrived at around 7:30 In the morning and did a hike around the lake (about 3 miles). I stopped many times during the hike for photographs but by the time we got back to the parking lot the wooden bridge leading to the rustic little cafe was packed with tourists.
Travel Information
Emerald Lake Lodge is located 20 minutes west from the village of Lake Louise. Head towards the Town of Field, B.C. The turnoff to Emerald Lake is 1 km west of Field. Follow the road for 8km until you reach the lake parking area. Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon as parking can be a problem in the summer. I’ve seen cars parked along the road a kilometer from the lake.
