Canada Natural Bridge
From the car park, there is a short walk to a bridge over the Kicking Horse River providing frontal views of the Natural Bridge. Beyond the bridge, the short walking path curls left towards a viewing deck where you can get more angled views of the natural span with different mountains serving as the backdrop. This photo was taken from a “Man made” bridge and faces downstream from the Natural Bridge. It’s a good example of the brilliant blue water you see in alpine lakes and rivers caused by “rock flower”, which is created by the grinding of bedrock by glacial erosion. The fine particles are suspended in the water resulting in a powdery blue color.
Photography Tips
Get there as early in the morning as possible. When I arrived at about 7:15AM, a tour bus pulled in behind me. It’s a very popular spot and I think every tour bus in Canada stops there. By the time we left it appeared they all stopped there at the same time. It’s possible a late afternoon visit might be better.
