Canada Emerald Lake

This is a very popular location in Yoho National Park. Tour buses stop here often. While the Emerald Lake Lodge and the wooden bridge leading to the “Tea House” is very photogenic, the crowds can quickly your composition unless you arrive very early In the morning or very late afternoon. Fortunately (for nature lovers and photographers), a very small percentage of them opt for the easy 3 mile loop hike around the lake. It’s a gorgeous walk.

Photography Tips

Very early morning worked well for me. This photo was taken looking north without filters at about 8:30 AM.

Travel Information

Emerald Lake is located about a 20 minute drive from Field, British Columbia. The turnoff to Emerald Lake is 1 km west of Field. Follow the road for 8km until you reach the lake parking area.
