Canada Smutwood Peak
The Smutwood Peak offers one of the most unique views over 2 serene mountain lakes and one of the sharpest mountain teeth of the Rockies. It's an amazing hike and reward.
Photography Tips
If you can, go as close to the edge as possible to keep avoiding unnecessary foreground since there is already a lot happening in the area. For this shot, you need an ultra wide angle. A simple 24mm will do its job but then you might wanna create a 5-6 photo vertical stitched panorama.
Travel Information
In order to get here, you would need to start the hike at the free parking at the trailhead. However keep in mind that you need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass when parking your car.
The roundtrip is about 18km long and takes you up 920m elevation through muddy, not well maintained terrain. This trail is nothing for beginners. Also the summit ridge gets quite exposed at some points, so be aware of that.
Furthermore, this is prime grizzly bear territory. Be familiar with proper defensive behavior and carry bear spray!
