China Leshan Oriental Buddhist Park
This is a park full of Buddhist temples and monuments, most famous for its 71 metre high Buddha. Certainly impressive but the contents of the park a definitely not to be missed. There is a man-made cave which is actually a tunnel where beautiful statues have been carved out of the walls throughout - a massive feat of engineering.
Photography Tips
If you intend shooting interiors, a tripod is advisable. Also, some care is needed about photographing in temples - in some, the monks object, in others they were fine.
Travel Information
Stay in Chengdu and catch a bus. Train tickets are often sold out in advance and when you do get one, check-in is like for a flight. Nice train but...
We booked a local hotel but cancelled our second night and went back to Chendhu because there was so much more to see and do at night, and the restaurants... Get a taxi between the park and the train station and get more than one price - we heard of a few people being charged crazy fares.
