XueXiang, also known as China's Snow Town, is a small village in northeast China in Heilongjiang province. The village is known as a winter wonderland with its beautiful wooden traditional houses and perfect snowscapes. In winter the village looks surreal with almost perfect snow structures on and around the houses. The village itself was pretty unknown to the outside world until 1999, when a photographer won a prize for a photo he made of the village. Since then it has become one of the most known tourist attractions in China.

Photography Tips

You can find a lot of motives and subjects in the winter after the first snow. In winter it is very crowded and difficult to find a spot for a tripod or long exposures.

Travel Information

I drove with the car to the valley where the village is located, but it is also possible to get there by bus/Taxi. There is a parking space outside the village where you can buy tickets, and after that, you will be driven by a bus into the village (just a couple of minutes away from the parking lot).
