Czech Republic Manětín Dark Sky Area
Manětínská oblast tmavé oblohy, or the Manětín Dark Sky Area, is one of the best locations in the Czech Republic for stargazing and astrophotography. This protected dark sky area offers incredible views of the night sky, free from light pollution. The spiraling star trails captured in this image show the movement of the stars over time, creating a mesmerizing celestial display. This spot is a haven for photographers, stargazers, and anyone looking to connect with the vastness of the universe.
Photography Tips
To achieve similar star trails, use a sturdy tripod and set your camera for a long exposure or combine multiple exposures for a stacked effect. A wide-angle lens will help capture the maximum amount of sky. Set your ISO to 800–1600 for a balance between sensitivity and noise, and choose an aperture of f/2.8 or lower if possible. For the best effect, aim your camera at Polaris (the North Star) to create a circular pattern. Don't forget to bring a remote shutter release or use the timer function to avoid camera shake. Arrive early to scout your composition and enjoy the tranquility of the area.
