Denmark Råbjerg Mile
Råbjerg Mile is Denmark's largest walking dune. It is located at Bunken Klitplantage between Skagen and Frederikshavn.
The mile covers an area of approx. 1 km² and is 40 meters high at its highest. The wind moves the dunes in a north-easterly direction, and it moves up to 18 meters a year. Since 1900, it has moved 1,500 m, which means that in 100–200 years it will have covered the main road to Skagen. The dune leaves behind a low, moist layer of sand as it moves towards the Kattegat.
