If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Cairo, Wadi Degla is the perfect place. The nature reserve is located in the center of Cairo. Here, you can leave the noise, the crowds, and the tall buildings behind and enjoy the peace and solitude of nature.

The light is at its most beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Take good shoes with you; climbing can make the ground slippery. Do not forget enough water and food, especially on hot days. Bring also a headgear with you and use suncream, the sun is very strong there. I recommend you leave the paths and climb the desert hills. The best is to do this at the start of the park; it becomes more difficult to get up the mountain later on. The view from the top is particularly beautiful.

You can easily get there with an Uber or your car. To enter (November 2024), you have to pay 25 EGP, about $0.51, at the gate.
