Faroe Islands Kallur lighthouse, Faroe Islands
This famous lighthouse is located on the island Kalsoy which belongs to the Faroe Islands. It is placed on a cliff with a jaw-dropping fall into the wild Atlantic Ocean. The Tombstone of James Bond is very close by as well.
Photography Tips
Bring the widest lens you have to capture this scene since you can not walk too far from the lighthouse, and the mountain in the background is also huge, which makes it a bit more challenging to fit everything in one frame. I even saw some puffins here, so it could also be a good idea to have a tele-zoom lens.
Travel Information
You can only enter the island of Kalsoy by ferry. No tunnel or bridge connects this place on Earth to the other islands of the Faroe Islands. Make sure to come here early as it's first come, first serve, and the ferry is relatively small + the locals can always skip the line. Drive to the end of the only existing road on Kalsoy towards Trøllanes. You will find a small car park and a public restroom before starting the hike. There are signs you can follow or use a tracking app to keep you on track since you walk on the grass. It took me around 30-45 minutes to get to the lighthouse, which you can already see by 60-70% of the trail. Be aware of the harsh weather of the Faroe Islands, and don't go too close to the Cliffs!
