Along the hiking path, when you first see down to the sea, turn sharp left. There is a short path leading uphill. From up there you get a better angle and you can see the cliffs are actually overhanging. The name Trælanípa (slave cliffs) comes from the believe that the vikings threw old and weak slaves down those cliffs when they weren‘t of use anymore.

Travel Information

Parking outside Midvágur, from the main street turn off next to the church, easy to find. There is a hiking fee but you can get in before the coffee shop opens (usually at 8) and pay on your way out. Around sunrise you are most likely on your own. Hiking to this spot takes around 45 mins.
