France Col de la Schlucht
With an elevation of 1139 m, the Col de la Schlucht is a mountain pass in the Vosges Mountains connecting two regions of France, Alsace and Lorraine. For photographers, this is definitely an iconic, but still quite unknown, spot since you'll get a unique view on the valley beneath, often shrouded in clouds.
Photography Tips
The best time is early in the morning, right at or after sunset. Use an ultra-wide or wide angle lens to include the rocks in the foreground and the mountains in the background. Bringing a tripod is a good idea since the available light is not always abundant.
Travel Information
From Alsace, the climb up to the Col de la Schlucht is 18 km to the summit. You can leave the car in the village further up and hike down to the little viewing platform which offers the best view.
