France Lac de Trécolpas (Mercantour)

A nice mountain lake with a small island. If you are lucky, you will also have the ability to observe some marmots and not-so-shy chamois around the lake... and in the summer you can even have a swim in the lake (cold, of course, but reasonably cold).

Car park is available at "Vacherie du Boréon". From there, you can follow the trail and signs or follow the GPX track assuming you have downloaded it (e.g. from Visorando). The best is probably to get up straight to the lake and then come down via the "Refuge de la Cougourde".

Trail is 12 km return. Difference in altitude is +/- 700m
