France Cascade de Fontcouverte
The magnificent Fontcouverte cascade on La Clarée river, near Névache, is a protected site. The cascade takes its name from a miraculous spring that was partly hidden and covered by a bush: “the covered fountain”.
Travel Information
Start at Chalets de Fontcouverte, on the D301T road, about 6.5km after Névache. Cross the Clarée river and park just beyond, opposite the campsite.
The hike begins between the bridge and the Fruitière refuge. Follow the downstream path along the right bank of the Clarée. When it bends to the left, continue for a few meters to reach the waterfall.
