France Seals, Berck

Seal colony living in the sandy river mouth.
Two species of seals live here: the Common Seal (Phoca vitulina vitulina) and the Grey Seal (Halichoerus grypus).

Photography Tips

The pictures were taken with a 28-200mm zoom lens. At low tide, the seals lay on the other side of the river. I think that at high tide the entire estuary is under water, the entire sandy shore and the stone dam from where the pictures were taken. I don't know where the seals are then. So it is definitely worth taking photos at low tide.
