France Louvre Pyramid and Museum
Obviously the Louvre is a very well known spot. After researching the location prior to my trip and spending some time there, I found this to be the ideal spot to shoot the beautiful pyramid and courtyard. The covered area right before entering the Cour Carree courtyard provided an ideal composition with pleasing symmetry.
Photography Tips
Plan your shoot prior to arrival. What direction is the sun setting and how will that effect the light in your frame? When I was there, the weather was overcast and rainy. This ended up working to my advantage in a couple of different ways: First, this is an incredibly popular location with hundreds of people wandering around. However due to the rain, there was hardly another person in sight. Second, I loved the beautiful reflections that I was able to capture. One thing I like to do is wait to shoot until blue hour (after sunset or before sunrise) when the ambient light in the sky is perfectly complemented by the artificial city lights.
Travel Information
Centrally located and an easy walk, subway, or uber ride away from most of the popular tourist areas. Entering through the Cour Carree courtyard is the easiest way to get there. Be mindful of the courtyard opening/closing hours.
