Georgia Monument at Paravani Lake, Poka, Samtskhe-Javakheti Region

The fish-laden Paravani Lake is one of the largest lakes in Georgia. It is of the volcano-tectonic type, located in the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, in the northeastern part of the volcanic plateau. This spot is about 2 hours from Tbilisi, on the road to Armenia, south of Georgia. The landscape is incredibly beautiful and reminiscent of Iceland. If you are looking for vastness, solitude, and nature, this is the right place for you. Also, there are several sights to see around the lake, including the Abuli and Shaori Cyclopean Fortresses, as well as Poka Monastery.

I took the picture in May, before sunset. This spot is in the mountains, it is often cold and windy, so bring warm clothes with you.

You must come by car. You can park your car on the side of the road. Drive carefully, the road has many bends and sometimes the weather is so foggy that visibility is limited.
