Germany Luciberghütte / Blockhütte

A small hut in the vineyards on the slopes of the Melibokus above the oldest town on the Bergstraße.

From here you have a clear view over the Rhine valley to Donnersberg in the Palatinate in the west or Frankfurt am Main in the north. I recommend the place at sunset and clear skies at night. Make sure that your equipment is able to capture the night sky despite the light pollution.

If you are looking for something special, come here just before a thunderstorm. The melibokus (the mountain behind you in the east) keeps the rain mostly at a distance so that you can capture the thunderstorms in the valley from the distance (in case of danger there is still a hut for hiding).

Because it's in the vineyards, it's not allowed to drive directly to that place. Leave your car in town and then take a short walk via the old stone quarry of Zwingenberg to the Luciberg hut.
