The 'Nordstrand' of Helgoland is a great place for taking sunrises and sunsets as well as long exposure shots. In springtime and in autumn, lots of migrating birds make a stopover at this beach.

Photography Tips

For sunrises/sunsets and long exposure a tripod is essential. For bird photography, weatherproof clothes and shoes as well as a powerful telelens (minimum 300 mm) is recommended.

Travel Information

You can travel to Helgoland by ship/ferry from Hamburg, Büsum and Bremerhaven from March until October; from Cuxhaven during the whole year. It is possible to take a plane from Cuxhaven/Nordholz or from Büsum too.
