Germany The hidden Neuschwanstein spot

The subject, Neuschwanstein castle, is very famous and most of the photos are taken from the marienbrücke.
My photo is taken from a spot, very near the marienbrücke, but gives a little different angle. Also with sunrise, you better see the sun come over the mountains than from the marienbrücke.

The spot is illegal but is not a problem when you come very early to catch the sunrise.
About 20 meters before reaching the bridge, you see on your left a fence with a sign “forbidden”.
When you go over this little fence and climb for 50 meters, you will reach the spot...

BE CAREFUL. THERE IS A DEEP ABYSS IN FRONT OF THIS SPOT AND IT CAN BE SLIPPERY!!!

In the photos below you see them on the right of the bridge and the left of the fence with the sign.

Photography Tips

Go for a sunrise to catch the best light and you will also be there before the big numbers of crowds.

Normally you park down in the village, but when you arrive before sunrise you can ride upstairs just before the castle and park at the Schloss restaurant.

maybe there is a spot around to fly a drone safely?

There is no fence marked with P :(

Sorry if my description mislead you. You probably was looking for the real fence with some P sign. I placed "P" marker on location map, just enlarge it. Anyway, I see you found the spot:P

No I did not found it. My image with the roots is a composite from the same place. The roots picture can be found to the right side f the trail before entering the bridge, just behind the bench there, Easy shot, and I just cut it out and blend them with a picture I took from the bridge. Apparently as in September 2019 I visited it, there is a brand new fencing that prohibited people from coming to the hidden spot.

I know what you are talking about. They were performing renovation works and fence installation back than when during my visit. Probably, they just blocked every possible breach for the sake of safety, just to put off any responsibility.

Sounds good and I'm in the area this weekend, maybe I'll find the time and try it out. Thank you. And generally totally beautiful picture in the sunrise.

Thanks. The spot is very famous and maybe not so original, but be there on time will reward you

I will be on my way to south croatia/montenegro, so I really don't know when I will be next to Neuschwanstein. But I will try to drive friday night to the Königssee as first part and so it should be possible to be at Neuschwanstein in the early morning :).

I was on the Marienbrücke just a few weeks ago (first week of September 2019), and looking at the behind the scene picture, it looks like a new more secure fence is already in place. I did't even try or want to try to climb over it.

Oh, I forgot to answer, but yes, also my experience is like Jimmys answer ...
