The Ludwig-Erhard-Haus (LEH for short) is located in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin in Fasanenstraße, not far from Zoologischer Garten station and therefore in City West. The LEH was designed between 1994 and 1997 by the British team of architects Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners. The construction was carried out by a consortium of Friedrich Krupp AG and Max Bögl. The building was inaugurated on September 21, 1998. The towering steel arches, the paw-like supports, and the “scaly” façade are intended by the team of architects to be reminiscent of an armadillo. The building is named after Ludwig Erhard, who is regarded as the “father” of the social market economy and the economic miracle after the Second World War, who was the first Minister of Economics of the Federal Republic of Germany and later Federal Chancellor.

Important information! The site is INSIDE an office building with no public access! It would have been nice to know as I guess this is the purpose of this website...
