Germany Bastei

The Bastei is a rock formation towering 194 meters above the Elbe River in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Germany. Reaching a height of 305 meters above sea level, the jagged rocks of the Bastei were formed by water erosion over one million years ago.

Photography Tips

Definitely bring a tripod and be there for sunrise for the best light possible, all of the golden light will be behind the bridge if you try to get a sunset shot.

Travel Information

There are a few parking lots around the area. If you come from the west side the parking lot is only a few minutes from the bridge but where is the fun in that. If you go from the east side there is a 30-minute hike to the bridge from the lower valley, this way is highly recommended and has a lot more to see along the way.
