Germany Rödergaße, Rothenburg ob der Tauber

A popular photo motif can be found in the middle of medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber: the Rödergasse with the Markusturm tower and the Rödertor gate. The alley is home to a picturesque fountain and the remains of Rothenburg's oldest town wall. These were intended as an extension to today's Rödertor. The Markus Tower dates back to 1172 when the first town wall was built. When a second outer city wall was built in the 14th century, the older fortifications became redundant. Tourists are treated to a special eye-catcher every spring: storks regularly nest on the Markus Tower, which you can not only see but also hear clattering from afar.

Try to frame the composition by bringing in the roofs of the houses as main subjects or by using the Markus Tower as a subject by using leading lines. A telephoto lens would make it easy to cover the whole field of view of this street but that is not a must. One can also explore with a wide-angle lens.

We reached the spot by foot after parking our car in the hotel. The entire town is easily accessible by foot and can be covered in a matter of hours.
There are a few public park spaces nearby, just like public transportation.
