Zwingenberg castle at the eastern bank of the Neckar river is still inhabited by the Prince of Baden family. The castle is sometimes open for the public.

The castle overlooks the entrance to Wolfschlucht gorge. Another gorge nearby is Margarethenschlucht in Neckargerach.

Photography Tips

The edges of the castle keep are nearly oriented in compass directions. Thus, in the afternoon the sun barely streaks over the SE face of the keep.

In autumn you may have a chance of scenic fog by the river.

Travel Information

Zwingenberg has a train station. Look for Zwingenberg (Baden), there is another Zwingenberg (Bergstraße) nearby which, incidentally, also has a castle.
