Germany Schelinger Höhe-Badberg
This is definitely one of my favorite spots for landscape and nature pictures in the "Regio" region between Basel, Strasbourg and Freiburg. Lying in midst of the sundrenched wine area Kaiserstuhl, this nature reserve consists of rolling hills, wine terraces and breathtaking views over the Rhine valley into Alsace and the Vosges mountains - a little piece of Tuscany close to the Black Forest !
Photography Tips
This area reveals its beauty in about any season but spring and summer offer a lot of opportunities for landscape and macro photographers. Don't forget to bring your tele lens for landscape abstracts and green lizards and your macro lens for butterflies, spiders and other bugs. Early morning is especially great for light and solitude.
Travel Information
The area is situated between the villages Oberbergen and Schelingen, both part of the town of Vogtsburg in the Kaiserstuhl area. You can park your car below the nature reserve Badberg right outside of Oberbergen (get prepared for a steep climb up the Badberg hill) or on a bigger parking lot after Schelingen (a nicer, easier climb through woods).
